With the recent Premier League results and Liverpool's loss to Chelsea 2-0 last April 27, Manchester City has a chance to win the Premiere League and smash the hopes of all Liverpool fans who have been, and are still waiting, to be finally crowned Premiere League Champions since the 1989/1990 season.
It can be remembered that Liverpool once had the opportunity during Rafa Benitez' era, but failed miserably in the end. Winning the Premiere League is not an easy feat especially for a club that is also in the Champions League and Capital One Cup; often injuries are a factor, especially in the closing games, when a team starts to feel the immense pressure of the season. Taking a look at all the great teams of the English Premier League (EPL), one can find a commonality in how they have won and keep winning the EPL: the common factor is "leadership".
It takes a great man to steer a ship as the saying goes and with the title race now a free for all between Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City. Fans are biting nails in anticipation of which team will come out on top. Manchester City just has to win all their games to be crowned champions. Much like their last EPL crown, Manchester City can take it through goal difference.
Chelsea however is hoping that City does drop points and Liverpool again performs as they did during their last encounter with Chelsea with all their remaining games.
It has been a surprise that Liverpool has been able to withstand the pressures so far and them slipping up now is a shame to all the players and Brendan Rodgers after a 24-year draught can be devastating; not that supporters are not used to failures.
Liverpool once were giants in the Premiere League having won the Champions League in 2005 and boasting with players like Jamie Carragher, Xabi Alonso, and even the once prolific Fernando Torres. When Rafa Benitez stepped down as manager, they lost their fury and began rebuilding. It has taken years for Liverpool to have a taste of greatness and a return to the Champions League next season. Liverpool supporters now have to hope that Manchester City would feel the pressures as they are and slip up.
