"Star Wars Episode 7" plot and cast details continue to surface as the production date gets closer.

John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will be joining the original cast to keep the plot going for "Star Wars: Episode 7", reports Variety.

For those who don't know, the star-studded original cast includes Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker.

Disney and Lucasfilm reportedly made the announcement on Tuesday, as speculation in regards to the plot and the cast have been circulating amongst fans for months.

"We are so excited to finally share the cast of 'Star Wars: Episode VII.' It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again," said J.J. Abrams, who is directing the film.

According to Abrams, shooting is set to begin in a couple of weeks.

Viewers of "Star Wars: Episode VII" should expect to see Adam Driver as a "Dark Vader-like main villain."

John Boyega has been cast as a Jedi while it's still unclear who Daisy Ridley will play.

"Star Wars: Episode 7," which is a direct sequel to the 1983 "Return of the Jedi" movie, will have Harrison Ford return as the role of Hans Solo.

Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are expected to return as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia, reports The Christian Post.

Hans Solo is set to play a huge role in the plot of "Star Wars: Episode VII."

The release date for the upcoming Star Wars film is December 18, 2015.

Alan Horn, current chairman of Walt Disney Studios stated, "We're very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday film going season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture."
