Floyd Mayweather And Oscar De La Hoya Intend To Buy LA Clippers; Fighters Show Opposing Views On Donald Sterling Issue

Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya may have been rivals in the past, but these days, they have one common interest: the LA Clippers. The fighters have expressed their intention to buy the team but they apparently have opposing views about Donald Sterling issue.

The entire LA Clippers team management is currently under fire following the former owner Donald Sterling's ban for life from the league after he was recorded making racial slants against African-Americans.

In the wake of these recent events, Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya have expressed their respective desires to have a piece of the beleaguered team.

Oscar De La Hoya believes that his experience as the owner of Golden Boy Promotions can help him make a fruitful run as an NBA team owner.

"I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I know what it takes to run a successful sports entity and nothing would make me happier than to bring an NBA Championship home to Southern California sports fans," said De La Hoya in an interview with Bad Left Hook.

Floyd Mayweather, on the other hand, believes that he and his team have the means to buy an NBA franchise such as the Los Angeles Clippers. After all, Mayweather, who is aptly nicknamed "Money", is not only the 2013 Fighter of the Year. He is also 2013's Highest Paid Athlete.

According to ESPN.com, Floyd Mayweather earned a grand total of $90 million in winnings last year.

"I can't come in here talking about Mayweather only going to get 3% or 4%. But do we want to buy the Clippers? Yes we do. We're very, very interested in buying the Clippers," Mayweather told USA Today.

As for the Donald Sterling issue, Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya had opposing views.

For De La Hoya, the NBA did the right thing, and if given the chance, he would want to be "a part of positive change for the league".

"There is no room for racism and unfair treatment in any professional sport, or in life in general," De La Hoya added.

Mayweather, however, has said nothing but good things about Sterling.

"He's always treated me with the utmost respect, he has always invited me to games, always. And he always says, 'Floyd, I want you to sit right next to me and my wife."
