The audio scandal surrounding Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling continues.
NBA players broke their silence on Twitter in regards to the Donald Sterling audio scandal after commissioner Adam Silver banned the billionaire for life from any association with the NBA, according to ABC News.
Jason Collins tweeted, "Commissioner of the @NBA just showed us how he drops the hammer on ignorance. #lifetimeban for Donald Sterling. The ultimate #gonefishing."
LeBron James wrote, "Commissioner Silver thank you for protecting our beautiful and powerful league!! Great leader!! #BiggerThanBasketball #StriveForGreatness."
Even former Vice President Al Gore commented on the audio scandal, tweeting, "Great leadership by NBA's Adam Silver after Donald Sterling's despicable words. Sports transcend racism, which has no place in our society."
Stephen Colbert hilariously wrote, "As further punishment, Donald Sterling should have to watch the last three decades of Clippers games."
Fans united for the players of the Los Angeles Clippers for Game 5 in the playoff series.
There was a standing ovation for pregame warmups as each player entered the game, according to the Los Angeles Times.
A small standing ovation was given to two fans that were wearing black shirts with Sterling's face crossed out.
Since the audio recording of Donald Sterling telling his girlfriend that he's upset that she posted a picture of herself with Magic Johnson surfaced, the players reportedly contemplated boycotts as civil rights advocates threatened protests.
After the lifetime ban of Donald Sterling, a true victory rally had been planned at the Staples Center for both the players and the fans.
One of the 29 NBA team owners who will decide whether Sterling will be forced to sell the Los Angeles Clippers reportedly stated that he believes the vote will be unanimous.
