"Judge Judy" has been on the air since 1996 and surprisingly, it still manages to remain daytime's No. 1 program.
Maybe it's the insane salary that Judge Judy makes by being TV's "most powerful jurist" that's keeping her working extra hard.
Judge Judy, also known as Judith Scheindlin reportedly earns a $45 annual salary, mostly from syndication revenue, according to the CS Monitor.
Now, the daytime program is set to have a one-hour special on Scheindlin, following the jurist's career and how she went from New York Family Court to "Judge Judy," according to Deadline.com.
CBS will air the special on May 20, just before her second syndication courtroom show, "Hot Bench," which will boost her salary to unspeakable numbers.
The CBS special will reportedly include new cases and footage from a 1993 "60 Minutes" profile about then-unknown Judith Scheindlin and another from 2003.
As much as fans like to think that each and every episode of "Judge Judy" is true, it has recently been revealed that that's not always the case.
The Daily Mail has reported that the episode that aired the dispute between several New York City musician roommates who claimed one killed the other's cat by smashing TVs has been revealed to be a lie.
The musicians, Kate and Brian, had stated in the 2010 episode that their roommate, Jonathan, drunkenly smashed two TVs, killing Kate's cat, Trips, in the process.
The fake story got them a free trip to Los Angeles and $1,250.
Jonathan recently told Vice, "Absolutely none of it was real. The cat existed."
He continued, "His name was Trips, and to my knowledge he's still alive. He did end up running away, like, pretty soon after the show, though."
The whole idea began when Kate moved to New York and was still struggling to search for a way to make money.
"I told her we could come up with some story for Judge Judy, and we would probably get the settlement and a free trip to LA. I was aware that the cap for small claims was around four grand. Kate got real excited about it and emailed the show straight away," Jonathan stated.
Judge Judge apparently knew that the entire story was a lie as the taping reportedly went by as quickly as possible.
