Chris Brown News 2014: Chris Brown will spend his 25th birthday behind bars after being advised that he must remain locked up for at least another week according to Contract Music. Having her son's best interest at heart, the singer's mother says she's actually glad that he's in jail because it may be preventing him from getting into even more trouble, Hollywood Life reported.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Brandlin jailed the R&B singer on 14 March, after Brown was dismissed from a rehab facility, violating the terms of his court-ordered anger-management treatment, related to his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna. He was back in court on May 1, 2014 hoping to get freedom before his upcoming birthday on May 5 but Judge Brandlin told him he would have to remain in jail for at least another week as he deals with ongoing legal woes.
The lawmaker ruled Brown would remain imprisoned unless a resolution on the terms of his probation in the Rihanna case could be agreed between prosecutors and the star's attorney Mark Geragos before a scheduled hearing on May 9 according to a report from Contract Music.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Life learned that jail is actually the safest place for Chris Brown. According to a report many of Chris' best friends were involved in a brawl at Supperclub in Hollywood, Calif. on April 30. Breezy's mother, Joyce Hawkins, says it's a good thing he was in jail at the time because had he not been, he would have been right there in the thick of the drama.
"It's a good thing he's in jail seeing as how all of his friends were at the club [on April 30] and because he's impressionable, he would have been there too, in trouble, and who knows what that could have amounted to," a source close to Chris' mother reveals to Hollywood Life.
The source explains, "She was appalled and just outraged to see all that nonsense play out and see Chris' friends, the same people she's tried to get out of his life for years, involved in that. When will they learn? Someone could have been seriously injured or even been killed."
"She hates that Chris likes to be in those types of environments and with those types of people and she's glad that he was locked up when all this took place. She hopes that he can somehow see the video in jail and learn something from this and wake up. His friends are bad news!" the source added.
According to Hollywood Life, besides Karrueche Tran, Joyce is one of the most powerful women in Chris' life.
