"Game of Thrones" season 4, episode 5 review ended on a solid note but it wasn't particularly a shocker compared to the other episodes (e.g. Red Wedding and Pink Wedding). Hodor, meanwhile, showed his true strength after Bran Stark took over his body though his warg ability and started throwing things around at Craster's Keep.
Each "Game of Thrones" season 4, episode 5 review agrees that "First of His Name" is one of the slower episodes, although no less important in the grand scheme of things.
In the episode, Tommen Baratheon is crowned new king and sits on the Iron Throne and Margaery Tyrell has an interesting conversation with Cersei Lannister who, instead of chastising her for looking at the new boy king, asks if she still wanted to be queen. They both end that small talk by agreeing to arrange the wedding with their respective fathers.
Daenerys Targayen is then shown consulting with her counsel after receiving news about Joffrey's death and it seems like a perfect opportunity to take over King's Landing while they have ships and men to do so. But she also received news that the slaver cities she freed were again conquered so King's Landing will have to wait.
Sansa Stark arrives at Eyrie but she's far from safe from her crazy aunt, Lady Arryn, who plans on marrying her with her son Robin Arryn to become the Lady of Eyrie.
In Craster's Keep, Bran takes over Hodor with his warg ability and breaks free of the chains. The man mammoth also breaks Locke's neck after a brief chase.
While Craster's Kepp is no more, Bran and Jon's reunion will have to be delayed because, as Jojen Reed reminds the young Stark, he still has a mission further north.
"Outside of the cool battle ... this was one of the slower episodes of the show. Here's to hoping for a pickup, and more Tyrion, very soon," Matt Carter wrote on his "Game of Thrones" Season 4, Episode 5 review.
