"The Fault in Our Stars" movie insider: the cast bared it all in a recent interview for the press and for the Tumblr community.
The cast, led by Shailene Woodley, admitted they cried through many of scenes during filming, but it was John Green who was heavily moved by the performances.
The movie is reportedly slated for a June 6 release in the U.S., a story about a teenage girl battling cancer. She develops a romantic relationship with a boy (played by Ansel Elgort) she met at a cancer support group. The buzz around the film adaptation has been building over the past months, and fans of the novel are expecting the film will deliver.
In this "The Fault in Our Stars" movie insider, the cast sat down with the press for candid interviews; when asked who shed the most tears during production, they were unanimous with John Green.
The movie trailer revealed parts of the love scene between the protagonists, and Woodley was the first to confirm that this was her favorite. Variety.com quoted: "It's treated with integrity. I think, oftentimes, our society looks at teenagers and sort of discredits their love or they say, 'Oh, it's cute. It's puppy love. They don't know what real love is.' And you look at adults and you're like, 'Are you actually happy?'"
The movie deals with themes of loss and catharsis, of living life to the fullest. The novel is meant for the young adult crowds, but the "The Fault In Our Stars" movie is expected to appeal to older audiences as well.
In related news, Woodley and co-star Elgort also play paired roles in "Divergent," as siblings. More on "The Fault in Our Stars" movie insider: when Woodley was asked how she felt about these roles, her response was candid: "It's not weird because I've always sort of wondered what it'd be like - kissing my brother."
