Ronda Rousey appeared on The Ultimate Fighter TV series for the show's 18th installment when she coached a team of male and female bantamweights against bitter rival Miesha Tate. It was where UFC fans saw "Rowdy's" villainous tendencies, which made most of her followers turn from fans to haters.
Several months after TUF 18 ended, the reigning UFC bantamweight champion has voiced out her opinions about the show, mainly about the manner of which it was edited down. Ronda Rousey also dished on The Ultimate Fighter TV series with regard to how they were treated as cast members.
"I used to watch it all the time," said Rousey in an interview with The Canadian Press. "Now I don't watch it."
Ronda Rousey sounded off further about her disdain towards The Ultimate Fighter series now that she knows "how much bull is in it".
"They don't know the first thing about fighting," Rowdy added. "They only know about reality TV and they treated us like we were 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' and not elite athletes that should be respected. And I don't support people like that so I don't watch the show anymore."
UFC President Dana White was quick to justify his fighter's statements, stating that "it was clear that Ronda Rousey did not have a good time" as a member of The Ultimate Fighter cast.
"Not everyone is crazy with reality TV and it's no secret that Ronda butted heads with people in production and on the show," White explained. "You can't change her mind, that's the way she feels."
White also defended Ronda Rousey's actions, explaining that a fighter can say things without thinking once he/she is caught up in the moment in front of a reality show camera.
Ronda Rousey will be facing Alexis Davis at UFC 175 for with her bantamweight championship belt on the line. The event will be held on July 5, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
