Vitor Belfort's TRT use has been one of the most talked about subjects in mixed martial arts. But since its ban for use in MMA competitions has been implemented, 'The Phenom' has questioned the purpose for it, at the same time, aired his thoughts on Lyoto Machida as his replacement to face Chris Weidman for the UFC middleweight belt.
In an interview with Brazil's Sensei Sportv, Vitor Belfort shared how he thinks that Machida fighting for the title "makes no sense."
"Jacare should be the one (fighting Weidman). If there's a ranking, they should validate it. But the ranking does not exist, so we have to accept. Whoever has the belt will be my next opponent. That's a fact."
He is referring to another fellow Brazilian, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza, who has won three straight wins in the UFC. The Phenom believes that Jacare desreves a title shot more than Machida, who only won two fights after dropping down from light heavyweight.
Now off TRT, Vitor Belfort says that he feels great, but at the same time feels that he was put at a disadvantage.
"My hormone stays at 200 today, and the normal range is from 300 to 800. (TRT) raised my levels to a normal range according to the commission. My hormone was at the same level of my opponents', so they are in advantage now," the fighter said of the Victor Belfort TRT use.
Vitor Belfort's TRT use made him state further that while the therapy's use is acceptable in other sporting competitions like basketball and baseball, its use in MMA competition has become a myth when he was knocking his opponents out.
But as a multi-titled veteran fighter and devout Catholic, Victor Belfort believes that his faith along with his work ethic will get him through.
"I feel like an animal," Belfort continued. "The Holy Spirit gives me everything I need. I'm training like an animal. Nobody trains harder than me."
