The sequel to the 2012 comedy and drama indie flick is now being developed under the name Spring Breakers: The Second Coming, but as far as Spring Breakers 2 goes the director of the first movie Harmony Korine has not been reported to have anything to do with it. This means that Spring Breakers 2 could possibly have a new director on board.
According to reports from Screen Daily, it is hinted that Swedish born director Jonas Akerlund will be handling the movie. Akerlund is responsible for creating music videos such as Metallicas's "Turn the Page" and "Whiskey in the Jar" and Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" and "Telephone". Along with him is the new screenwriter of the sequel Irvine Welsh who's known for his novel-turned movie works like Transpotting, Filth, and the upcoming Porno.
As for the cast, it is hinted there will be "a mix of the old and new in the production". We'll likely see Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and the old gang back together along with some new faces in the sequel, and maybe we'll get to see James Franco again playing another drug-dealing gangster.
The first Spring Breaker is about a group of college girlfriends who head down to Florida, in order to enjoy the ultimate spring break. Their they've encountered a local gangster named Alien ( played James Franco) as they embark on a crazy and dangerous world filled with never ending parties, drugs and many more.
