Finally! The Oculus Rift Consumer version release date has been confirmed! What are the planned specs of the Oculus Rift consumer version and should you buy it over the Sony VR Headset, Project Morpheus?
Business Insider has been at this week's Facebook's F8 conference and during the event an Oculus spokesperson explained that the Management at Oculus VR, will be "disappointed" if it doesn't have a headset available for consumers to purchase by 2016.
So if you are considering purchasing one of the new Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets created by Oculus VR and which was purchased earlier this year by Facebook for $2 billion. Now would be a good time to add the Oculus Rift to your 2015 holiday gift list.
The price of the Oculus Rift is said to be affordable for every consumer and Cyberland reports the Oculus Rift Consumer Version would probably cost around 350 to 400 USD.
Oculus VR is also working on a new device revealed Andreessen Horowitz partner Chris Dixon, an investor in Oculus VR that is connected to a room full of server and is capable of creating a very realistic virtual environment for user to enjoy.
"Crystal Cove is 50 per cent of what they are running in LA. You go into a room. It's a special room. Fancier headset"..."In user testing it gets to a level of realism where almost all people feel that it's realistic"..."Imagine everything you can see now, but it's a little bit pixelated. Eventually that pixelation will go away."
It should be noted that the current version of the Oculus Rift developer's kit is getting rave reviews and people are even buying right now as it is so good while the reviews on the Sony VR headset, Project Morpheus have been lackluster at best.
What are you buying? The Oculus Rift or the Sony VR headset, Project Morpheus? Sound off in the comments below!
