The Last of Us 2 PS4 release date is slated at June 20, according to most retailer reports. The remastered version of the PS3 game upgrades the experience on the PlayStation 4, with an expanded world, higher resolution, and enhanced detail.
The Last of Us for the PS4 is actually a port over from the PS3, developer Naughty Dog's response to gamers clamoring for an enhanced experience of the post-apocalyptic survival adventure. The game is officially titled "The Last of Us Remastered," for very good reasons.
The game runs in 1080p, the normal resolution for most titles in the PS4. The developers plan to have it clocked at 60fps as well, a significant improvement to the PS3 version; gamespot.com offers details and a link to the trailer.
Naughty Dog intends to maximize the PS4's capabilities by rendering more detail, ensuring immersed gameplay. Character models in higher resolutions, better texture, and enhanced contrast in shadows and lighting merit repeat gameplay for fans.
The Last of Us 2 PS4 release date is still tentative, and Amazon is even estimating this to be pushed as far back as December. The June 30 release is probable, scheduled a week after this year's E3 convention.
Bonus content to the PS4 port over include commentaries from creative director Neil Druckman, as well as interviews with the main characters' voice actors (Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson). The "Left Behind," "Abandoned Territories," and "Reclaimed Territories," expansions also offer a treat for players revisiting the game.
Naughty Dog is currently working on a new Uncharted game for the PS4, following up on the success of the first. The developers took on the remastered version of "The Last of Us" immediately after the PS3 game was released, but seriously dug deep once fans asked if the game is also playable on the new PlayStation console.
