NBA 2K15 Release Date Kevin Durant: 2K Sports Ports To Previous And Next-Gen Consoles! 2014 Most Valuable Player Goes Solo On The Cover

It's confirmed: the NBA 2K15 release date Kevin Durant cover is set for October 7, across the consoles and platforms. Gamers can also preorder the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC versions via Amazon and Gamestop (stickskills.com).

The release date is expected, as the NBA 2K series always came out early October, specifically on the second week. This October's release date is six days behind the 2K14 of the previous year.

Details of the game are yet to be disclosed, but 2K Sports have confirmed Kevin Durant will grace this year's cover art, and will possibly have a promotional presence in the game as well (usatoday.com). The Oklahoma City Thunder's small forward is this year's Most Valuable Player.

This is Durant's first solo appearance on an NBA 2K cover; he shared the space with the Clippers' Blake Griffin and the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose in 2012 (NBA 2K13). He was also on the cover of NCAA March Madness 08. Durant is an avid fan and player of the NBA2K series.

The NBA 2K15 release date is scheduled for October 10 internationally; the title is usually the flagship of major consoles, especially with the next generation PlayStation and Xbox out on the market.

NBA 2K14 was also ported over to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as follow-up to the PC, Xbox 360, and PC release in October 2013. The game had serious flaws in development, though, server issues in particular (joystiq.com).

Difficulty in connecting to the server left gamers frustrated. Access (or lack of it) isn't crucial to gameplay, but it does lock subscribers out of their virtual accounts, with currency to manage. Virtual currency unlocks goods and upgrades for custom players, and game modes like MyTeam and NBA Today are also accessible online.

Developers released a major patch for the bug, which currently solves most of the connection issues.
