MacBook Pro 2014: Just recently, we revealed the goodness of the 2014 MacBook Air. Today, the MacBook Pro gets a piece of the spotlight as it gets closer to its debut.
The upcoming laptops from Apple are going to be packed with plenty of brand new features that will wow the consumers. The most eye-catching of them all is the ‘keystacks' on the multi-functional keyboard.
Such a feature is basically separate keys layered with stiches, sensors and electronics. However, this is not something new. It seems that Apple is influenced by the Optimus Maximus keyboard from Art Lebedev Studio.
With it, users can customize the map of the keys to specific files and folders. Apple improved on the ideas of third party developers by adding multiple modes and shortcuts to the keyboard. On top of that, Apple added in a display-within-key concept to the keyboard.
The new keyboard system will let users go through content using swiping gestures. It combines the touch-enabled functions in the iPhone or iPad to the conventional keyboard component. Apple explained on the patent:
"(D)ynamic glyphs can be generated using multiple light sources and filters of a circuitry module within the keystack...For example, a first glyph (e.g., a capital 'A') can be generated using a first light source that may emit light at a first wavelength (e.g., at a red wavelength), and a second glyph (e.g., a lower case 'a') can be generated using a second light source that may emit light at a second wavelength (e.g., at a blue wavelength)."
While it can get confusing, Apple ensure that it will be efficient as there is an integrated backlit display in every key to offer visual feedback to the users.
As for when the MacBook Pro will be out, it is still unrevealed. Consumers can expect to learn more on the laptop come WWDC early next month.
