The Death of Wolverine will surely rock Marvel Universe's core!
Marvel's Wolverine has been around for many years and in the comics he's been alive for quite some time. His mutant healing factor is much to be blamed for his longevity and Wolverine can even survive almost anything the writers can throw at him.
According to IGN.com though, in the last volume of Wolverine, Logan contracted a virus, which led to the deterioration of his healing factor and is now considered moot.
This is the premise of the announcement of the Death of Wolverine. The story of how Wolverine will actually die will be told in the "Three Months To Live" arch, which will culminate in a four-issue Death Of Wolverine to be written by the newly famed Charles Soule and illustrated by Steve McNiven.
Now the question to be asked, besides how will it affect the Marvel comic book universe, is that like all the deaths of every major character (they usually come back), will Wolverine's death actually stick? The likes of Captain America, Spiderman, and even Batman from DC Comics come to mind and who all did, or course, eventually came back.
Wolverine however is more of a "one off" character, unlike the ones mentioned before who all had someone take over the mantle, Wolverine does not. Of course casual fans will scream "Daken!" the son of Wolverine, having already done that in the Dark Reign story arch will be the one most fit to carry on his mantle. Spoiler alert though, he's dead.
Talking about how this will impact the Marvel universe, Wolverine not just has his own solo comic, but he's also a part of the X-men, Avengers, and X-force while also being the headmaster of the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning.
With him being gone, and possibly be gone forever, a gaping hole will need filling.
Of course the tags "Marketing Scheme" is being thrown around but think about the stories leading to his "resurrection"; it will be an interesting Marvel Universe without him being a major character and all, we will just have to hold on until this is over and hopefully, we will have Wolverine up and about in no time.
