The release of a Sunset Overdrive Xbox One teaser trailer validates Microsoft leaks posted by an insider last January. In a NeoGAF post, the source predicted several game titles as initial releases for the Xbox One.
Username "ntkrnl" revealed premium titles to be released even before the Xbox One came out. Aside from a descriptive post on Sunset Overdrive's plot and gameplay mechanics, the user also disclosed that a Halo 2 remake and a racing game sequel (Forza Horizon) are in the works.
More notable are claims of a Halo 5 release by 2015, with a beta version to be included in this year's Halo 2: Anniversary Edition. The elusive white Xbox One will also be publicly available; the novelty is currently exclusive to Microsoft employees.
Claims are legitimate if only for the details disclosed regarding Sunset Overdrive. The game is a melee adventure, a world inhabited by men turned into monsters after consuming a drink called Overcharge XT. The game trailer confirms the leak three months after it was posted.
To be fair, Phil Spencer of Xbox has hinted at a Halo 2 remake in the past, and it's possible the NeoGAF user guesstimated the Sunset Overdrive details from an E3 trailer released last year. Some predictions are still unquestionable, such as the leaked images of a Titanfall-Xbox One bundle, confirmed later on by developer Respawn (kotaku.com).
In news related to the Sunset Overdrive Xbox One release, developer Insomniac defends its decision to make the title exclusive to the console. The Ratchet and Clank and Resistance series were premium titles under its wing, previously developed for the PlayStation consoles.
Developers seldom side with current and next-gen consoles and platforms, but Community Lead James Stevenson favored Microsoft and praised the partnership (gearnuke.com). His Twitter post: "...say what you want, but they made that game happened and embraced its vision. Been terrific partners."
