The next X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse stars Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm as "Days of Future Past" gets early positive views from fans in Twitter. Will Bryan Singer recast the younger heroes?
It recently reported that X-Men director Bryan Singer will cast the younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm in the next chapter of the franchise X-Men: Apocalypse. The story of Apocalypse is set on the 1980's and that rules out the first batch of mutants that stared in First Class, though it's still put into question. In an interview with SciFi Now, Bryan Singer confirmed the possibility of a younger Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm in Apocalypse.
"My next goal is how did the X-Men come together? That story hasn't been told yet, so [Days Of Future Past] is the inbetweequel," laughs Singer.
"It's in between the birth of that relationship with Charles and Erik and the formation of the X-Men."
Of course, this means X-Men: Apocalypse is in the right time zone to revisit and recast iconic original characters Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm.
Cyclops and Jean Grey, played by James Marsden and Famke Janssen, were killed in X-Men: The Last Stand (although Janssen reprised the role for dream sequences in The Wolverine), while Halle Berry returns as Storm for the post-apocalyptic segments of X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
"Yeah," Singer confirms when that exact question is put to him, "exactly."
Days of Future Past writer/producer Simon Kinberg also discussed the possible cast of the next X-Men movie.
"In a way, it feels like from this point forward we can do whatever we want, but we'll be moving forward with some of the actors from the First Class/Days of Future Past cast, so there's stuff we've done in these last couple of movies that we'll definitely continue doing for them, at least in Apocalypse, if not more movies going forward."
There are also hints that Singer of a recast for Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. Younger versions of these three mutants were shown in several X-Men movies such as Last Stand, X-Men Origins Wolverine, and First Class. If ever he decides to include these three actors agin or get new cast, we'll hear more about when the movie starts in production soon.
Meanwhile, X-Men Days of Future Past was given an early positive run from fans who have watched the early screening of the movie as they tweeted their reactions on Twitter.
