PS4 Exclusive Games 2014: Quantic Dream Hard At Work At Another Heavy Rain? Career Ad Reveals The Details Of Development

Techie jargon alert: Quantic Dream is set to release at least two PS4 exclusive games 2014, if a posted ad sourcing placement is to be consulted. Exclusives aren't the norm in next-gen titles, but the developer is among the few who plan to highlight the PlayStation hardware's capabilities.

Developer Quantic Dream is reported to be working on a title exclusive to the PS4, and a recent job placement ad hints of the details of development.

The ad seeks Senior 3D Rendering Programmer, as well as an Experienced Environment Artist, both to take on a project for the next-gen PS4 console. Knowledge of proprietary tools is required for the latter position, of "highly advanced real time rendering and post-processing techniques."

Cinematic presentations are staples of Quantic Dream titles, and the job description confirms it is going through the familiar route with its next title. CG films, realistic sets, and photorealistic features describe elements of the next project.

The PS4 hardware is new frontier in game design, and enhanced, photorealistic visuals should bring graphics one step closer, almost indistinguishable to live action.

A second ad offers insight on Quantic Dreams' future development plans: knowledge of SSAO (Screen Space Ambient Occlusion), Deferred Shading, Shadows, Global, and Particles are listed as must-haves. Requirements are directly related to image rendering and graphic design.

Experience with PS4 and Xbox One projects is a preference, as well as mastery of graphics API. It's likely Quantic Dream is keeping development to the PS4, though. Next-gen consoles have different hardware and operating schemes, but the skill requirements for these are practically interchangeable (dualshockers.com).

The ad prioritizes applicants with excellent knowledge of OpenGL API, the PlayStation 4's default. The wave of PS4 exclusive games 2014 should heat up the competition with Microsoft's Xbox One, which also enjoys exclusive titles like Sunset Overdrive. Quantic Dream is the developer for Heavy Rain, a previous PS3 title which also maximized the console's capabilities.
