Claudine Barretto Latest News 2014: Former Star Magic talent Claudine Barretto has new exposé regarding her disastrous marriage with estranged husband Raymart Santiago. In an interview aired Sunday on ABS-CBN, Barretto claimed that her marriage with Santiago was "fake."

The actress told "Buzz ng Bayan" host Boy Abunda, "I regret na pinakasalan ko si Raymart ... It was fake... I should have backed out; we were living in sin pala." In the same interview, Barretto also claimed that she has been diagnosed with "battered wife syndrome."

Merriam-Webster Online defined Battered woman syndrome as "the highly variable symptom complex of physical and psychological injuries exhibited by a woman repeatedly abused especially physically by her mate."

According to Inquirer, Barretto and Santiago got married twice, once in 2004 in a civil rite held in Isabela and another one in a Christian ceremony held in Tagaytay City on March 27, 2006.

Barretto's claim was denied by Santiago's legal counsel, saying that the registration of the marriage came in late but "it was not fake."

The couple's altercation started in 2013 where Santiago was complained of domestic abuse although rumors of their breakup started circulating in 2011, Inquirer reported.

"I am going through difficult times...there are a lot of lies and a lot of deceits. They say that I am not fit as a mother but my children are doing well in school," Barretto said.

Barretto and Santiago have two kids, Sabina, 10, and Santino, 6.

Barretto also denied that she has a mental illness like what's being repeatedly mentioned in reports.

"Mental illness is different from mental torture," she clarified.

When asked how Santiago reacted to a televised interview of his alienated wife, Raymart Santiago's lawyer, Atty. Ruth Castelo, she said, "Actually, pagod na pagod na si Raymart with all this. He's very tired," Castelo told reporters on Monday. "Kaya if you notice, he does not want to come out in an interview, kasi ayaw na niyang pag-usapan, eh. Pagod na siya sa mga kasinungalingan. Ayaw niya."

According to ABS CBN, Castelo stated that Santiago's next steps concerning his legal feud with Barretto is preparing a petition for the dissolution of the former couple's marriage.
