Nokia X Specs: The Nokia X might be among the most affordable dual-sim Android smartphone around but the existing OS on the device has been somewhat restrictive to its users.
Now, users of the Nokia X can fully utilize the Nokia X with the Android 4.1.2 vanilla user interface and remove the Metro UI imposed by Microsoft. The custom is built to enhance the Snapdragon processor via the Android Open Source project, based on Code Aurora. The only issue that comes with it is with the radio player, which is unable to be played on a headset.
Nevertheless, it is still an update worth installing. If you're a Nokia X user and wish to take your device to the next level, you can follow the instruction below. Of course, installing the custom ROM is at your own risk.
Pre-requisites
1. The update is specifically for the Nokia X.
2. Create a manual backup of all your files and settings.
3. The device must have a minimum of 60% battery life.
4. The Nokia X has to be rooted via TWRP or Clockwork Mod.
5. The Aurora Vanilla ROM and the Google Apps package downloaded.
Flashing Instructions
1. Connect your Nokia X to a computer via USB.
2. Transfer the ROM and Google Apps package into your device.
3. Disconnect the Nokia X and switch it off.
4. Press and hold the volume and power keys for 15 seconds to enter recovery mode.
5. Create an Android backup of the current ROM. Select "backup and restore > backup" to make a save file.
6. Install Aurora Vanilla by selecting "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > find the Aurora Vanilla firmware you've pasted earlier > confirm installation. Apply the same with Google Apps package. Updating may take up to five minutes on your Nokia X.
7. Once done, return to the main menu and select "reboot system now".
The Nokia X will restart and it may take longer than usual. Once done, go to About Phone in settings and see that the device is running on the Aurora Vanilla.
