Specs Update Prior To The 2015 Hellraid Release Date: Techland Plans To Maximize The New Generation Of Consoles’ Capabilities, Deliver A Visually Stunning Experience

The Hellraid release date has been moved to 2015, and developers are planning on an exclusive next-gen port. The title was previously intended to come out to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

It has been confirmed in reports that developer Techland is planning on an 1080p, 60fps running rate for the game, on the PS4 and the Xbox One. It's possible the title will run on the same engine (Chrome Engine 6) of Dying Light, another Techland title.

Producer Marcin Kruczkiewicz confirms: "Both games are using the same engine now, so this is the goal for both development teams as well as the engine team." The team is also open to the potential of new technologies, and there's possibility of support for DirectX12 for the Xbox One and PC versions (gamingbolt.com).

A Hellraid trailer was previously released, showcasing the game's dynamics. Hellraid release date is postponed to maximize development for the new hardware.

Hellraid is a first-person fantasy game, with spells, combat options, and a variety of undead enemies laid out in a Skyrim-type open world. Single-player campaign is the default, and online multiplayer mode is available. Online mode (as far as the trailer reveals) has three players in coop, and a fourth one serving as dungeon master.

Random-generated content guarantees different dungeon layouts and different items to pick up with every run.

Prior to the Hellraid release date, Techland confirms it is following through on the development approach it used for Dying Light (released this year), in consideration to benchmark titles like Call of Duty: Ghosts (which runs at 1080p on the PlayStation 4, 720p on the Xbox One). Tech director Jakub Klarowicz is hesitant to confirm final specs, though.

Klarowicz maintains the core of the gameplay will remain. "That's why all Dying Light elements that relate to the core gameplay - be it the enemy AI or the number of zombies on screen - stay the same, whether it's current-gen or next-gen." The processing power of the PS4, Xbox One, and PC is still a serious consideration in development, though.
