The Power Rangers comeback to the big screen had fans screaming in excitement for their childhood heroes, as Lionsgate and Saban will work together to bring their vision of the teen heroes and reintroduce to them to the current generation.
According to reports from ComicBookMovie.com, an All-star cast for the Power Rangers movie reboot have been revealed, and the characters they portray are likely based on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV show in 1993. The actors that are going to be the six rangers are Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist), Hip-hop rapper Kid Cudi, Devon Aoki (2 Fast 2 Furious, Sin City), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), and Cam Gigandet ( Twilight, Never Back Down).
Liam Neeson is rumored to take the role of the Power Rangers mentor Zordon, while Zack Braff will be his robot assistant Alpha 5.
Of course it won't be a Power Rangers movie without some evil alien tyrants to conquer the world as X-Men movie stars Michael Fassbender and Famke Janssen will take on Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa, along with Tom Hardy as the alien general Goldar. Other characters include the comic relief duo of Bulk and Skull being portrayed by Michael Sera and Jonah Hill.
Meanwhile, Max Landis is reported to be working on the script for the Power Rangers, and stated on his Twitter page that he is not involved in production, although he did expressed his interest in making the film before.
According to the website Schmoes Know, Landis wrote a draft of the script, along with producers Jim Miller and Alison Shearmur. Landis also ranted about how the movie should be treated.
"Reboots should focus on the fun ideas at the center of the original property. "Dark and gritty" isn't for everything. Something that was fun and colorful should remain fun and colorful. Just up the intelligence and the character. That was what the first JJ Trek did so well, or Winter soldier, or even the new Godzilla... As a writer, the last thing I'd want would be to force a tone that doesn't belong onto a story. Tone is story. That said, if the property wasn't open to evolve, I'd want no part and get out ASAP....."
