The official Transformers: Age of Extinction trailer has been released and it brings with it a lot of explosions- and Mark Wahlberg!
The fourth film in the Hasbro-born franchise directed by Michael Bay, shows just how serious the plight of the world is, now that the government appears to have turned on Optimus Prime and the good robots, devil may care that the very bad robots are just waiting to crush mankind.
Taking over from former series leading man Shia LaBeouf, Mark Wahlberg stars as Cade Yeager, a movie hero name if we ever heard one. The doting, mechanically minded dad first must save his children and then the world after he finds Optimus Prime hiding in his shed.
"You guys have never seen a truck like this before," he promises his kids. "I think we just found a Transformer."
So the Transformers are apparently robatas non grata after doing the world several good turns, and it's going to take Cade and Prime to make the people see—which of course will not happen until entire city blocks are blown to bits. And then, even after the people are convinced...plenty more is going to get blown up.
"After all we have done, humans are hunting us," Optimus Prime laments, "but I fear we are all targets now...This is not war. It's human extinction."
"How many more of my kind must be sacrified?" the Autobot, voiced by Peter Cullen, asks.
"Got to have faith, Prime," Cade insists. "Maybe not in who we are, but in what we can be."
The film, also starring Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Ken Watanabe and John Goodman (as Autobot Hound), hits theaters June 27.
