Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Episode 24 Recap: When everybody is moving on...
Previously, it was pointed out that Cristina Yang was really going away to Zurich no matter what. Apparently, she had been delaying her trip because she didn't feel she was finished in Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Then, the day came when she decided that she will leave. She was leaving Owen's trailer while watching the weather new to make sure everything will be good. She also said that she will drop by the mall to do some errands.
Meredith and Derek had been finalizing their plans to move to Washington D.C. Alex was excited about buying a new car or boat and he's still undecided. Bailey's genome lab was shut because the Avery Foundation cut the funding and she was really pissed at Jackson.
Turn it up, turn it off
In the ER, Kepner was trying to tell something to the Chief. She told him that she's pregnant and Owen was very happy for her. Then, he saw the news that the mall had an explosion and it might be some sort of terrorism. They got everything prepared for the incoming trauma, but in his mind was Cristina might be among the victims since she said that she'll be going to the mall.
Owen tried not to panic and tells Karev about it but she can't tell Meredith. Homeland security arrived and bothered Mer's patient, but she showed them who the boss in the hospital is. Karev was working on a child and then Cristina showed up to his surprise.
As it turned out, the explosion was not an act of terrorism but just a gas main break and the skin reaction experienced by the patients was because of the dry cleaner at the mall. Owen got furious at the TV reporter for scaring people regarding the situation.
Prolonging the agony of a goodbye
Meredith was also shocked to see Cristina in the hospital and she tells her that they are moving to D.C. and they shared an awkward side hug. Good thing she was in the hospital because UNOS called and a heart will be available for her patient. The new head of Cardio, Maggie, was not very happy about Yang's decision.
Meredith knew that Cristina was stalling, but she argued that she had to finish something there. She also said that Meredith and she weren't even finished. Mer replied that there was no finish line or end point and she just had to go. She helped her bid goodbye, to Derek, Richard, and Bailey. Ross even intervened and said he wanted to go to Zurich with her to be her student in which Cristina agrees. But, she ran off and bid goodbye to Owen while he's in surgery (he deserved more than a wave goodbye).
Mer sent her off on a cab, but she still hesitated to leave. Meredith then said "What do you need, an I love you or something? I love you." They smiled at each other and the cab pulled away. Surprisingly, she came back again and pulled Meredith while she was talking to Amelia. She wanted to finish by dancing it out with her person and told her to take care of Owen and Alex and told her, "Don't be a hero. You're my person, I need you alive. You make me brave."
Surprise extra dishes
Jackson and April were very much happy in love and excited for their baby. Callie and Arizona had a patient who is a surrogate mother and they got the perfect idea. Richard had recommended Bailey to take Cristina's seat as member of the board. However, Alex found out that Yang left him all of her shares and he'll be having a position in the board. So what's going to happen with Bailey?
Richard chatted with the new head of Cardio who was having trouble adjusting. She opened up and told him that he was adopted and her birth mother was Elis Grey. He was in a state of shock because he just met his daughter.
Derek and Meredith were on the rocks since she told him that she doesn't want to go to D.C. She was encouraged by Cristina not to give in with Derek's wants all the time.
At the end, Cristina set up her new office at Zurich, there was a photo of her with Mer's family, their photo together, and a photo of her wedding to Owen. Shane then called her for the meeting. And by then, she was the new director of cardiothoracic surgery.
