Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Mike Alvarado fight results prove that for "El Dinamita," age does not matter.

Prior to the Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Mike Alvarado fight, "Mile High" was confident about his chances, as he even boldly referred to "El Dinamita" as a "grandpa lion."

"I'm not really worried about anything with Marquez," Alvarado boldly stated during a pre-fight interview with Marcos Villegas of The Boxing Channel. "We all know everything about Marquez. I think it's just his time to pass that torch, and it's on me to exploit that out of him, to exploit that he don't belong [sic] in this ring with younger lions."

"He's a grandpa lion now," he jokingly added.

Juan Manuel Marquez responded by taking the higher road and let his boxing do the talking instead. And he indeed completed his end of the bargain by outclassing his opponent to a dominant unanimous decision victory, proving that he can still fight today's best fighters despite his age.

Timothy Bradley, a former opponent of Juan Manuel Marquez, also shared his pre-fight thoughts.

"Marquez said he's not gonna get outhustled," Bradley continued. "When I fought him, I outhustled him. I threw more shots than him, I landed more than he did. He was very effective with his punches, but I threw more, I outlanded him.

Bradley's prediction about the fight's complexion did come true in some moments of the fight when both "El Dinamita" and "Mile High" traded punches, to the delight of the fans in attendance.

He was also correct about his judgment of "El Dinamita," as the 40-year old Juan Manuel Marquez took advantage of Mike Alvarado's tentativeness inside the ring, and was able to land more power shots and inflict more damage.

"Mile High" was gracious in defeat, as he commended his opponent's performance after the fight.

"He fought a good fight. It was a great experience," Alvarado told HBO's Max Kellerman during the post-fight interview.

Juan Manuel Marquez also praised Mike Alvarado's performance, and was delighted to give the fans a great fight.

"I always said Mike Alvarado was strong, fast, and very worthy. I expected this fight," Marquez said. "I said it was going to be a tough fight and a very difficult fight. I wanted to give the public a gift, a fight The Forum deserves."
