The trailer in the newest Lord of the Rings game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor features new weapons and rune gameplay, stealth kills on orcs, upgrades and customizations for weapons and runes and many more. Plus is the new LOTR game a rip-off of the Assassin's Creed games?
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is an upcoming action role-playing video game currently being developed by Monolith Productions and due to be released by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game is set in the LOTR universe and will serve as the bridge between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Players will control Talion, a ranger brought back to life by a mysterious spirit and is on a quest for vengeance against Sauron and his forces for killing his family.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor's new trailer shows how players can use different weapons and runes in any given situation. Each weapon is used against a particular type of enemy while Runes add buffs to Talion's weapons and can be combined to create new effects. There are also epic runes that can be crafted or looted to add significant effects to an item.
Players can upgrade and customize their weapons and runes to be more powerful and deadly. The game also exhibits brutal stealth kills and a bounty system in which Talion will be a prime target against different orc factions within the game.
Meanwhile, a game blogger from VG24/7 claimed that Shadow of is similar to Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed games. While the gameplay style, upgrades, and character customization of the two is somewhat similar, this could have been a pure coincidence and Monolith didn't make any statements regarding that issue and could probably show new vignettes for the game separating it from Assassin's Creed.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is set to be release on October 7 for The PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, and in the PC.
