As the Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez fight nears, Freddie Roach expressed optimism about his "Junito's" chances of winning the fight as the famed trainer points out his fighter's physical advantage.

The four-time Boxing Writers Association of America Trainer of the Year has been working with Miguel Cotto since "Junito" fought Delvin Rodriguez in October 2013, wherein he picked up a third round TKO victory.

Freddie Roach spoke to FightHype.com and gave his input about how "Junito" will be physically ready for the upcoming Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez fight on June 7 at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

"We brought the weight up a little bit and put on a little more muscle," Roach confidently stated. "I think actually he might be taller, but I think we're going to be much stronger on the inside, much more physical on the inside than he is, and we're going to push him around with no problem."

Recently, Miguel Cotto himself spoke about his famed trainer. For "Junito", Freddie Roach "makes everyone better" and described his mentor's method of training for every fight as "second to none."

Freddie Roach has been the type of trainer who would occasionally give out bold predictions for upcoming fights. His statements were best known during pre-fight festivities of Manny Pacquiao's matches wherein he would usually predict knockout victories.

But for the Miguel Cotto vs. Sergio Martinez fight, Roach kept his statements more objective than usual, basing most of his statements on how they have prepared for the fight, albeit some light verbal jabs.

"I think inside, we're the bigger, stronger person," Roach said. "We're going into the fight thinking he's going to be the best he can be and that's what he should be."

"I mean, it sounds like he's already making excuses, but the thing is we expect him at this best and we're going to beat him at his best," he added.
