After numerous rumors circling around whether Batman Arkham Knight will be actually released this year or next year, the only legitimate info right now is that the official website says that Batman Arkham Knight is still on track for a 2014 release.
Some game retailers have listed it in their websites and the month of October is said to be the potential release window. There is no news on how and why this speculation came around. In recent times, postponing the release date of major titles claiming business reasons or lack of time to develop it fully is becoming more prevalent. In 2013, one of the biggest and most anticipated of them all Watch Dogs was postponed to 2014.
The game is finally making its way to stores this May but given that the original date was in November 2013, this is a huge delay. While this may not evidently affect sales, sometimes the hype goes down because of the delay and gamers get on with other titles that are buzzing around in the present year. Compared to last year's hype, Watch Dogs definitely got some serious competition this year with games like Titanfall and Halo hogging the limelight.
The official developers of Batman Arkham Knight Rocksteady studios, has not released an official statement yet. The company did not deny or accept this news so far which adds fuel to the fire. They are supposed to firmly claim that the game will indeed be released this year and there will not be any chances of postponing it to a later release date.
Batman Arkham Origins was released with a slew of bugs that definitely pulled down the quality of the game and led to lukewarm sales. If they could have spent time in building it up properly, corrected all those glitches, and produced an impressive product, the game would have had a better chance to be a commercial hit. If the studio prefers to come up with a more refined product at the last minute, they might postpone it to 2015 but there is no official confirmation on the same so far.
Recently, another team that is developing the Division, an open world RPG opted to go for a later release as they were not ready with a playable version of the game yet. Such decisions usually enhance the overall quality of the game. Rocksteady recently released some interesting screenshots from Batman Arkham Knight that revealed more of the Batman costume, Harley Quinn among other characters. The studio has confirmed that their sole aim is to allow gamers to feel being Batman inside Arkham City. In the new title, they are going to push it forward by including the Bat Mobile that will allow gamers to explore further and a bigger city where thugs will be lurking around every corner. Bringing the concept of open world with the ability to drive definitely sounds interesting. We hope we could play it in October without any delays.
