"Daredevil" TV series showrunner Drew Goddard handed over the reins to "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" writer Steven S. DeKnight after he was tapped to write and helm the "Spider-Man" spinoff featuring an all-villain cast, called the "Sinister Six."

Steven S. DeKnight confirmed the news that he will executive produce the "Daredevil" TV series by tweeting: "Deeply honored to be a part of it."

Both Drew Goddard and Steven S. DeKnight worked together on "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" as well as its spinoff "Angel."

According to Latino Review, which first broke the story, Drew Goddard was originally tasked to write the 13-episode "Daredevil" TV series and also direct the pilot which will premiere next year.

The news came in the wake of Edgar Wright leaving the "Ant-Man" movie because of creative differences with the studio, Variety noted before adding that Drew Goddard will remain as consultant of the series.

The website also said that Steven S. DeKnight honed his showrunning skills when he executive produced "Spartacus" as well as "Smallville."

Production of the "Daredevil" TV series will begin this summer in New York,Entertainment Weekly's InsideTV said.

Based on the Marvel comics, the series follows the story of New York lawyer Matt Murdoch who lost his eyesight after he was hit with an unknown radioactive substance. While blind, his other senses were heightened as a result of the accident.

The character was also made into a movie in 2003 by Fox with Ben Affleck playing the superhero, however it was panned by critics which killed plans for a sequel.

Marvel Studios TV boss Jeph Loeb earlier told HitFix that the "Daredevil" TV series will start filming in July this year along with other characters Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Netflix already tapped Melissa Rosenberg ("Twighlight") as the showrunner, while there's no news yet on the "Iron Fist" and "Luke Cage" series.
