Peter Capaldi's "Doctor Who" teaser trailer was released by BBC One as the latest incarnation of the time traveler will land on the TV screens this August.
The Peter Capaldi's "Doctor Who" teaser is just 16 seconds long and it shows a silhouette of the Scottish actor inside the Tardis while the console is on flames, which is a reference to the huge cliffhanger in last year's Christmas special "The Time of the Doctor," said Wales Online.
Peter Capaldi was also briefly seen during the episode when the Doctor played by Matt Smith regenerated.
The teaser trailer also revealed that the airing date will be in August.
Peter Capaldi's "Doctor Who" is the 12th incarnation of the Time Lord. When the actor was hired, he tied the original time traveller William Hartnell as the oldest to play the character at 55 years old.
According to Variety, fans in the US won't have to wait long for the airing of Peter Capaldi's "Doctor Who" with the previous two seasons having similar air date in the U.K., Canada and the US and "this is likely to be the case for season eight, although an exact premiere date has yet to be announced."
Meanwhile, Vulture claimed in a report that Peter Capaldi is the perfect actor to play The Doctor, even if he's one of the oldest.
"'Doctor Who' has had many fine actors take the lead, and several of them danced with greatness, but Capaldi is surely the greatest actor yet to have been cast as the Doctor, and it's difficult to imagine the show flailing with this man as its new face," the website said.
Peter Capaldi actually won the Oscars in 1995 for Best Short Film, Live Action category for "Franz Kafka's It's A Wonderful Life." He also won the BAFTA TV award in 2010 for Best Male Performance in a Comedic Role for the 2005 feature "The Thick of It."
