Bad news Harry Potter fans, "Gravity" director Alfonso Cuaron will not be directing the Harry Potter spin off; Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them.
According to reports from Global Post, Alfonso Cuaron had "no plans of any kind" in directing a new movie, and is currently taking a break to spend time with his children and "connecting with life". He also added that he won't be working on effects-heavy projects anytime soon.
It was reported before that Warner Bros. was in deep talks with Alfonso Cuaron in doing the Harry Potter spin-off as he was once credited in directing the third Potter film Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban.
"It was a very beautiful experience for me [making 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban']. I have a lot of love for that universe and I tremendously admire J.K. Rowling, but today, for the present, projects based around lots of visual effects don't attract me. I'm coming out of a five-year process of doing visual effects and now I sort of want to clean my palate of that a little bit."
But Fantastic Beast isn't the only movie being pitch to Cuaron.
Global Post also reported that Cuaron is rumored to be a candidate for directing The Shining prequel "The Overlook Hotel" which is also produced by Warner Bros.
Cuaron is "a big fan" of Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of The Shining however, the filmmaker is "not up to date" on the development of the project.
