Joseph Gordon-Levitt is starring in the Sin City 2 movie this year. He is one of a few new additions to the Robert Rodriguez directed, Frank Miller created sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Gordon-Levitt plays Johnny, a gambler whose good fortune takes a turn for the worse when he beats the wrong guy at the poker table.

Gordon-Levitt and director Robert Rodriguez sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the story of good guys gone bad in Sin City 2.

When asked why he had waited ten years to make the sequel to Sin City, Rodriguez said, "It was really about circumstance, we wanted to get right into it in 2007." He added that the demand had been there, saying "People would always say, do another Sin City." He also mentioned that it depended on the availability of the other cast members, including Bruce Willis and Jessica Alba.

Gordon-Levitt was asked about Johnny, and what motivates his character. Revenge? Justice?

The Don Jon actor said, "It's aptly titled. It's sort of a story about the worst in us as humans."

Gordon-Levitt added, "The character I play is a guy that has admirable qualities but is being dragged down by that desire for revenge. And revenge never leads to anywhere good."

"He's driving right into Sin City, which is nowhere good to be," he said about Johnny.

Gordon-Levitt complimented Lady Gaga's camoe to radio station Jam'n 94.5 recently, saying, "She was in 'Sin City 2.' I did a part for [it]. Mr. Rodriguez asked me to be in, and Lady Gaga is in a scene of it. And I gotta say, she did a really good job. Like, she's a great actress. And I didn't know that. You know she came in and I was like, 'OK sure, they're having a huge pop star do a scene in the movie, I understand.' But then she came in and like, nailed it! She had her character down, and she was like a total pro and did a great job. I was really impressed. So it was good to see her again [at the VMAs]."

"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" also stars Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Eva Green, Jeremy Piven and Lady Gaga.

"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" hits theaters on August 22.
