Donald Sterling news continues as the discrimination saga over his racist comments has clouded his ownership of the LA Clippers.
Donald Sterling does not believe that he should not be fined $2.5million or have his team taken away from him.
His lawyer feels Sterling "will fight to the bloody end." He added, the 'sham ' proceedings should be terminated. Claims to terminate his ownership of the Clippers are illegal and Sterling said he will fight the charges. In other words, he will go full steam to June 3 for a vote of owners in the NBA.
In his attorney's account of the recorded conversation that caused the racist controversy, Sterling was having a jealous rant with his lover and he never intended to publish or recorded. And doing so is unconstitutional. Sterling was also jealous of Magic Johnson, hence the comment about bringing 'blacks' to games, which was again a reference to his girlfriend's Instagram photo with Johnson.
Despite what NBA officials are working out, sources told ESPN that Shelly Sterling has received early bids for the Clippers. Three quarters of owners vote, Sterling would be out.
While Sterling is fighting the allegations against him in the NBA, he also authorized his wife, Shelly to seek out bids. In essence Sterling is adding drama to the case, while reserving the best option to keep or sell the Clippers, taking advantage of the time has.
ESPN Senior Writer Ramona Shelburne said on TV that what Sterling has in mind is to sell the Clippers on his own terms and it that is disallowed, then he is prepared to fight. It looks like Shelly and Donald are fighting 'the war' on two fronts.
Shelly has legal papers created by Donald to seek bids on the Clippers. So she is authorized to do it, it is completely legal; it's not just a handshake. The figure Sterling is putting on the Clipper sale is $2.4 billion and analysts are saying that is just too much or an exaggeration for the value of the Clippers. The actual figure might be closer to $1 billion and a maximum of $1.8 billion and the $2 billion seems very 'iffy.'
However, the strategy that Sterling is employing is that if he is saying that he has a bidder who is willing to pay $2.5billion and the NBA does not give him that much for a forced sale, then he will sue for damages.
As one journalist said, 'You can't take your foot off the pedal with David Sterling.' He will fight to the end.
