"The Fault In Our Stars" movie lead actor Ansel Elgort shared with Parade in a recent interview how he almost missed getting the lead role for the movie.
Ansel revealed that playing Shailene Woodley's brother in the movie "Divergent" posed a threat his role in "The Fault in Our Stars." Fortunately, he had a very impressive audition that he was chosen to play the lead male role- Gus Waters- in the film. This would mean an upgrade from a brother to boyfriend role for the New York native Ansel.
"The Fault In Our Stars" remains to be one of the most read and most popular young adult novels to date. Fans of the novel by John Green expect the same emotionally draining story of life and love to be translated well into the movie.
Ansel,"The Fault In Our Stars" movie lead actor, shared that it was hard work for both Shailene and he, as they were required to cry almost every time while shooting the movie. He was all-praises for his co-star who he has worked with twice already.
In an interview with Parade, Ansel shared: "She is a rare girl. And not just in this industry-I mean out of everyone I've ever met. She plays Hazel negatively in the beginning, which is not very Shailene at all. Then you see her open up because of Gus, and it's beautiful."
On the other hand, Shailene had this to share about "The Fault In Our Stars" movie lead actor on set:
"One of them was this eulogy scene and Ansel was sitting there with pale makeup on and even though he was off screen, he was crying with me or he was locked into my eyes, and to have him in that position and to see him in that vulnerable state was really emotional because it felt so real."
Now that the shooting for "The Fault In Our Stars" has been wrapped up, the fans just have to patiently wait for its premier this summer. The highly anticipated movie will debut in theaters June 6th.
