The 41-year-old actress and Benji Madden silently confirmed rumors that the two have become more than friends by stepping out holding hands while grabbing coffee together this week.

But if this seems like a random pairing to anyone, it turns out that they've known each other for at least a decade-and Diaz does have a history of dating musically minded men.

"Cameron and Benji have actually known each other for years," a source tells E! News. "When she was first dating Justin [around 2003 or 2004], the Madden brothers were around a lot."

"Justin" being Justin Timberlake, of course, whom she dated for nearly three years before, they parted ways in 2006. They reunited in a professional capacity later on, costarring in 2011's Bad Teacher.

Cameron Diaz boyfriend "ran in the same circles and attended a lot of the same events and shows as Justin," the source continued. "Cameron and her gang were very friendly with them. So it's not like Cameron and Benji just met. Rather, they've recently reconnected."

The 35-year-old Good Charlotte guitarist's romance history includes the likes of Australian model Sophie Monk, whom he was engaged to for a time, Paris Hilton and Holly Madison.

"Keep in mind, Cameron dated Jared Leto for years," our source added. "[Benji is] not her first rocker. She likes rockers and she loves bad boys. Right now, they're totally into each other."

"Marriage, I highly doubt," the insider said. "Cameron's not into the idea. She's into love and long-term relationships, but a piece of paper isn't a huge priority for her."

The author of The Body Book has been indicating as much for years, most recently saying in the May issue of In Style, that she feels a lot of women "chase" marriage because that's what they've been programmed to want.

"A lot of people chase after it because they've been told, 'This equals happiness,'" she said. "They chase it, they get it, and they find out, 'Why did I think this was going to make me happy? I'm miserable!'

"I don't know if anyone is really naturally monogamous. We all have the same instincts as animals. But we live in a society where it's been ingrained in us to do these things."
