It certainly looks like "The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo" won't be having a sequel. But that doesn't stop one of the movie's lead stars to hope for the best.

At the Cannes Film Festival, Rooney Mara revealed that she really doesn't know whether a sequel to her hit movie "The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo" is even considered.

"I would love to do it," she said pertaining to the sequel of "The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo". "Start a petition, because I want to do it," she added.

The actress took over the role of Lisbeth Salander, made famous by Noomi Rapace in the Swedish film series, in the U.S. adaptation of the first installment of Stieg Larsson's book trilogy.

Fans have been waiting for three years for a sequel based on the second novel, "The Girl Who Played with Fire."

"The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo" which also stars Brit hottie Daniel Craig grossed $232.6M during its theatrical run and has been lauded with several awards and award nominations.

Now that Mara has placed the faith of the sequel on the hands of the people, fans can just wait it out if producers will be changing their decisions soon.

Good thing for Mara, a lot of opportunities have come her way despite not having a possible "The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo" sequel. The actress has been recently chosen by fashion powerhouse Calvin Klein to be the new face of its Downtown fragrance.

In an interview with E! Mara shared her photo shoot experience for the campaign.

"It was really exciting and a little scary and intimidating," she shared.

And she also has this to share about the photographers on the red carpet: "Everybody's always yelling at me to smile, no matter where I am, but I just don't want to do anything fake," Mara explained. "If they make me laugh, I'll smile."
