Eva Green's "Sin City 2" poster was edited in order to meet the standards of the Motion Picture Association of America. However, the censorship was deemed not a big deal as entering into a compromise over submitted racy and offensive photos "happens all the time."
The original Eva Green's "Sin City 2" poster shows the 33-year-old actress garbed in a sheer dressing gown that revealed a hint of her nipples which "leaves little to the imagination," PageSix reported. She was also wielding a gun on her right hand and was sporting a bright red lipstick and manicure which are the same color as the text in the movie's title.
According to the publication, the MPAA shot down the submitted poster "for nudity - curve of under breast and dark nipple/areola circle visible through sheer gown."
The edited Eva Green's "Sin City 2" poster shows the actress robe as "less sheer."
Meanwhile, an E! News insider said that this kind of compromise "happens all the time."
"The movie will submit ads and the MPAA will ask for tweaks to be made. There's a compromise and that's it," the source added.
However, MailOnline cited the 2006 documentary "This Film Is Not Yet Rated," which revealed that the members of the MPAA is composed of members with "little expertise" and although they are "supposed to be parents of children 5-17," the reality is that they aren't.
As far as the images or promo clips disapproved by the boad historically, they mostly revolve around homosexual or sexual content.
The UK website also said that the last time a poster was deemed too racy for the general public was Lifetime's "The Client List" in 2012 which showed an ample amount of Jennifer Love Hewitt's cleavage. Entertainment Weekly instead edited the image and "reduced her 36Cs.
"Sin City 2," which also stars Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, and Rosario Dawson opens in theaters on August 22, 2014.
