Forbes has been tracking the fortunes of the richest people on the planet and the well-known site enumerated ten of the World's Most Expensive Billionaire Homes.

The list was topped by Antilia Indian Home in Mumbai. The 27-story, 400, 000-square foot residence has six underground levels of parking, 3 helicopter pads, a health level, and reportedly requires about 600 staff to run it is the world's most expensive home with construction cost amounting to more than $1 billion. It is named after a mystical island in the Atlantic and owned by Mukesh Ambani.

Lily Safra owned the next in the list. Villa Leopolda, Villefranche-sur-mer in France is a waterside home for 500 million euro in 2008. It is about $750 million at that time. This property is a 20-acre estate that was supposed to be bought by Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov who pulled out the deal eventually forfeiting a 50 million euro deposit.

Third is Fair Field, Sagaponack, N.Y. Ira Rennert's 29-bedroom, 39-bath Hamptons compound has three swimming pools plus its own power plant in its premises. Property value is about $248 million according to 2012 tax assessments.

Kensington Palace Gardens, London, U.K. is next. This property in the Billionaire's Row is rumoured to have been purchased for Mittal's son from Noam Gottesman. Its present owner is steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal who bought the house for 117 million pounds or $222 million at 2008.

Fifth in the list is One Hyde Park, London, U.K. This is an apartment located in Knightsbridge that boasts a staggering 25, 000-square-feet, bullet proof glass and 24-hour hotel concierge service is currently owned by Ukraine's richest man, Rinat Akhmetov. Its sale price is amounting to $221 million in 2011.

Ellison Estate, Woodside, California ranked 6th, a 23-acre Japanese-style estate with 10 buildings, a man-made lake, tea house, a bath house and a koi pond owned by the Oracle founder, Larry Ellison. The property has an estimated value of $200 million.

Seventh is at the Billionaire's Row Mansion, Kensington Palace Gardens, London, U.K. A mansion with plans of building a subterranean extension that includes a tennis court, health center and auto museum owned by Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich. The property was purchased at 90 million pounds in 2011.

At top 8 is the Blossom Estate, Palm Beach, Florida. This four side-by-side properties totalling to 8 acres on ocean owned by Ken Griffin with total purchase price of nearly $130 million in December 2012.

Xanadu 2.0, Seattle, Washington ranked 9th. This is high- tech Lake Washington compex owned by Bill Gates boasts a pool with an underwater music system, a 2, 500-square foot gym and a library with domed reading room with a market value of $120.5 million based on 2012 tax assessments.

Tenth is the Mountain Home Road, Woodside, California. This is a home that includes a 9,000-square foot neoclassical house, a 1,117-square foot colonnaded pool house, a detached library, a retreat building, a swimming pool, a tennis court and formal gardens reportedly owned by Masayoshi Son purchased with $117.5 million in 2012.
