American actress Evan Rachel Wood now faces $30 million lawsuit versus the "10 Things I Hate About Life" producers after breaching the contract and bailing on her lead role in the sequel.
TMZ reported that the American Gothic and Once and Again actress was initially paid an advance $300,000 for her role but did not return to work after the production came to a halt last year.
In the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, production company 10 Things Films LLC told that the production of the film had to stop in January last year. Upon its resume of production in February 8, the actress had allegedly refused to go back to work until November.
Reuters reported that American actress Evan Rachel Wood also refused to finish the principal photography at that time, claiming that she had already finished her obligations in the film.
After pleading for the actress to return and offering to pay her more, Jaime Bell's ex-wife did not agreed to come back.
In a latest update, TMZ said American Actress Evan Rachel Wood's representative called the case as a 'bullying tactic' from producers who are on the verge of being broke.
The actress' spokesperson added that the producers had ran out of money during the production phase saying American actress Evan Rachel Wood was not even paid what they owed to her, The Guardian said.
The report said the producers were the ones 'who breached the contract.'
"The lawsuit is preposterous and simply a bullying tactic from financially troubled producers. The production shut down in February 2013 when the producers ran out of money. Even after that, Evan agreed to resume production in Nov. 2013 by which time the producers said they would have cleared up their issues," Wood's rep statement reads.
"However, the producers still could not get their act together, nor did they pay Evan money that was owed. Repeated subsequent promises by the producers to resume production and pay Evan also turned out to be false. Enough is enough. The producers, not Evan, have breached contract," it added.
