The release date is expected, as the NBA 2K series always came out early October, specifically on the second week. This October's release date is six days behind the 2K14 of the previous year.

In a recent video by 2k Sports on Facebook, it showed Kevin Durant's MVP speech continued by unknown people while showing glimpse of custom made players most likely from My Player Mode. This might be a teaser of what to come. Watch the video below:

However, details of the game are yet to be disclosed, but 2K Sports have confirmed Kevin Durant will grace this year's cover art, and will possibly have a promotional presence in the game as well (usatoday.com). The Oklahoma City Thunder's small forward is this year's Most Valuable Player.

This is Durant's first solo appearance on an NBA 2K cover; he shared the space with the Clippers' Blake Griffin and the Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose in 2012 (NBA 2K13). He was also on the cover of NCAA March Madness 08. Durant is an avid fan and player of the NBA2K series.

In other news, not only 2k15 will be making their debut on October 7. NBA Live 15, the latest entry in EA Sports' longrunning professional basketball series, will launch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Writing on the EA Sports blog, NBA Live 15 executive producer Sean O'Brien said the game aims to improve upon two major areas, the first of which is gameplay itself. "As I've said previously, we know we fell short in two major areas with NBA Live 14. 5-on-5 gameplay didn't have the depth and polish of an EA Sports game and our visuals just weren't up to expectations for a next-gen title. We've been laser-focused on making sure that this isn't the case with NBA Live 15 and I'm really excited with our progress in those two areas."

O'Brien said NBA Live 15's character models should look true-to-life because EA Sports scanned the "majority" of NBA players' faces, made refinements to player models, and updated the game's lighting system. All of this, together, should make NBA Live 15's characters "look really amazing," O'Brien said.
