Adam Levine said asking soon to be wife Behati Prinsloo’s dad for his blessing was nerve-racking.

The Maroon 5 rocker and Behati Prinsloo got engaged almost a year ago, but he just recently opened up about popping the question in a new interview.

On "On Air with Ryan Seacrest," the radio host asked the Maroon 5 frontman is he had asked the South African model’s father for his blessing.

Levine said, "I did ask his permission. I don’t want to talk about it, you know how I am, but yes, of course I did. I had to. And it was extremely nerve-racking."

"The Voice" coach isn’t the only one beaming with happiness about the engagement. "I’m ecstatic, very happy," Behati Prinsloo told EXTRA recently. "He was a stand-up guy. Called my dad, called my mom. Did the whole thing."

Levine and Prinsloo will reportedly tie the knot on July 19 in Los Cabos, Mexico.

The Maroon 5 frontman and “Voice” judge is about to debut his first solo single hit. Levine sings “Lost Stars” in John Carney’s movie “Begin Again.” The soundtrack will be released on July 1st on Levine’s 222 Records. The movie opens a couple of days later in New York and L.A..

Maroon 5 also has a new album coming out on September 2.

“Lost Stars” was written by Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois of New Radicals fame.

“Begin Again” also stars Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, Catherine Keener, and Hailee Steinfeld. Carney wrote and directed the wonderful “Once.”

Levine told Showbiz411 that it wasn’t weird to sing a song that he didn’t write for once.
“Not at all,” he said. “And I didn’t change a word of it.”
