Speculations arise for the ABC hit detective series, Sherlock, to make a comeback in 2015, cutting the expected two-year wait in half for Sherlock season 4. The series first debuted in 2010, followed by season two in 2012, and season three in 2014
Even before season three's finale, “His Last Vow” aired, fans had already theorized a two-year break for the next installment, setting their sights on a 2016 release date.
Mirror Online, however, reported BBC's denial to the rumors of Sherlock airing in 2016, further causing fans to hope for an earlier release.
According to RadioTimes, producers of the modern-take on Conan Doyle's classic aim to start shooting early 2015 for Sherlock season 4 and will hopefully air later on in the year. Their main concern at the moment however, is the casts' busy schedule
Nevertheless, the show' s co-creator, Steven Moffat, promised to "get them made as quickly as we can" during the public screening for season three's finale last January
Moffat and Mark Gratiss added, “Everyone is very keen to do more, but we have accidentally cast the two most successful actors in the world and schedules are tight."
Radio Times also reported producer Sue Vertue to be “working on it. We're working on the dates.” The show's Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Dr. Watson, Martin Freeman are both busy working on The Hobbit's third and last installment. Cumberbatch will be playing the dragon Smaug while Freeman will continue his role as Bilbo Baggins.
Freeman however, showed his excitement over plans for a one-episode "Sherlock" special in a “Chatty Man” interview. He further expressed his fervor for the episode special saying, “It’s a fantastic, really mouth-watering idea. But I really don’t know when we are going to get to do it.”
Moffat revealed to E! Online that he had just started on the “Dr. Who” series hinting at a busy year for the producer. Regarding Sherlock season 4's fate, he said, “You know, we'll do what we can, but with no sacrifice in quality -- that's the thing. If people have to wait two years, they'll have to wait two years.”
