It's mostly gloom and doom for England unless they are favored by Group D results, but that's unlikely. As predicted by football pundits, Lousi Suarez was a decisive factor in this match.

85': Would you believe it? Suarez, 'the man who reinvents the role of a striker' scores again to clinch the game: 2-1.

75': Rooney finally scores one for England after a long dry spell. The assist goes to Johnson.

39': Suarez scores with an assist by Cavani.

Suarez is substituted out in the second half by Sebastian Coates as his leg injuries culminate. He has proven to be one of the finest talents in the game and at the Brazil World Cup 2014.

As the game progressed, fouls added from both sides and England began losing their momentum. After Rooney's goal, it seemed that England would make a turn around, but Uruguay successfully broke up their play. Rooney had plenty of targets on goal but they were not converted; his attempts at goal during the first half were futile. The striker's shots either hit the goal posts or were saved by the goalie.

The England line-up started unannounced with Hodgson sticking to 'all his good men' that met with Italy, consistent with his interviews that England would be in 'attack mode.' Unfortunately, they fell a bit short although switching Rooney from wide to center, his favorite position, may have been a good choice.

Now it's up to luck and the Group D draw.
