Chelsea Handler has announced her upcoming resignation from het hit talk show "Chelsea Lately," and after just a few weeks, she has confirmed her move to Netflix where she will be having her own talk show as well.
The 39-year-old has officially signed a deal with Netflix who will create a talk show especially designed for the witty host. However, the specific format of the show has not yet been finalized.
Meanwhile, Netflix spokesperson Karen Barragan confirmed that following Netflix's format, it is most likely that all of Handler's episodes be uploaded at the same time, the NY Times reported.
On June 20, Handler will filmed for a short standup comedy skit as part of her ongoing tour "Uganda Be Kidding Me." Netflix will air the show this coming October, Aceshowbiz has said.
In a statement released by Netflix, they explained that Handler's upcoming show will be similar to late night talk shows but will have a more timely format that will further showcase the host's opinions and points of view.
On Thursday, Handler released a statement and said, "If I was going to continue working in this industry, I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested. I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move."
Handler, who has been hosting her own talk show for the past seven years on the E! network, will officially resign on August 26.
Still, greater things are ahead for her since next year, Handler is also set to create a four documentary comedy special focused on NASCAR, politics, Silicon Valley and the NBA draft, according to Journal Gazette.
