Ronda Rousey news features the reigning UFC Women's bantamweight champion's statements on how she wants to prove a point in her upcoming fight against Alexis Davis.
The two women will be facing each other for Ronda Rousey's title at the co-main event of UFC 175, which is scheduled for July 5th at the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas.
"Rowdy" spoke to FOX Sports about how she feels, both as a champion in judo and a champion in Women's MMA.
"This fight against Alexis, who is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and the kind of person I've heard my whole life should be the type to tap me out no problem, would be nice to prove a point against her," she explained the Ronda Rousey news.
Since her professional mixed martial arts debut in March 2011, Ronda Rousey has won eight of her total nine fights via armbar. As a decorated Olympic judo black belt, it is the one weapon that she has mastered thoroughly.
It was during her most recent fight against Sara McMann at UFC 170 in February, where she won her first fight TKO via a knee to the body. If anything, "Rowdy" was able to show that she is improving in every aspect of MMA, and she aims to do the same for her upcoming fight.
"I always have people saying that my striking is terrible and she's a well-noted Muay Thai fighter so any way that I can beat her I think would prove a good point," she added about the Ronda Rousey news.
On paper, Alexis Davis is the most dangerous submission fighter that Ronda Rousey has ever faced. But for the defending champion, her judo will still reign supreme come fight night.
"One thing that I couldn't stand when I was just watching MMA and coming from Judo was all these people talking about how the Jiu Jitsu people would beat any Judo player," Rousey said. "It was such a stereotype that I thought, and still think, that I could beat any girl in the world, any weight division, gi or no-gi, black belt and in any ruleset they want, in just pure Jiu Jitsu."
