"Skyscraper" singer Demi Lovato revealed recently that one of her grandfathers was gay in Logo TV's first Trailblazers event, according to E! Online. The LGBT community meanwhile embraced the pop singer for her active gay rights support.

Being an active supporter of LGBT community, "Skyscraper" singer Demi Lovato said that one of her grandfathers came out as gay in 1960s. She said the interesting revelation when she presented an award for "Orange Is The New Black" during the Trailblazer event.

"I've never spoken about this before, but my grandfather was a trailblazer himself," Demi Lovato said, revealing the reason why she supports the LGBT community so much.

She added, "He was brave enough to come out in the 1960s, and I feel that a lot of my spirit has come from him."

She said she was inspired by her grandfather who came out even when it was a time when being gay is dangerous, Entertainment Wise said.

But Demi Lovato's grandfather died a couple of years after he came out and the singer wished "he could have been able to see all the progress that has been made."

"Skyscrapper" singer Demi Lovato also said during the LGBT community event that she was deeply honored to be part of the campaign for gay rights.

"It's such an honor to be welcomed and embraced by the LGBT community, so thank you very much," Demi Lovato said.

Aside from being honored by the LGBT community as one of their prides in campaigning for gay rights in Los Angeles, the "Skyscraper" singer Demi Lovato will also grace a performance this coming weekend in New York for another round of festivities.

While Demi Lovato awarded the movie "Orange Is The New Black," Lance Bass meanwhile honored NBA star Jason Collins who came out as gay just recently.

"Orange Is the New Black" stars Laverne Cox, Lea Delaria, Matt McGorry, Samira Wiley and Taryn Manning received the award.

Also present in the Trailblazer event were "Harry Potter" lead star Daniel Radcliffe, Maroon 5's front man Adam Levine, Sia, Pete Wentz and Joe Manganiello.
