Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine reveals the new album 'V' songs are very diverse as the musicians took inspiration from multiple musical genres in their songs, in an interview with MTV News.

Levine said, "This album is very much all over the place. There's some stuff on our record that sounds a little like early Maroon 5, and then there's some stuff that sounds like the newer direction that we went in."

The Maroon 5 frontman added, "I think that's kind of the idea behind the album. It's our fifth record. [Five] is literally part of our name. We thought we'd get back to certain elements that we'd been missing out on for a while with our original sound, but also bridge the gap with the new stuff that we've been doing. I think it's an all-encompassing kind of record."

Gwen Stefani is also featured on a track with Maroon 5 on the new album.

Levine said about the No Doubt singer, "She's incredible. It was so much fun. We just sat around and talked for hours. It was so fantastic getting to know her. I'm a huge fan of hers."

Apparently the song on which Stefani is featured is still being revamped and the title has not yet been set.

"It's being mixed right now, so I literally have not even named the song yet," he said. "[It's] probably gonna be between two titles."

Maroon 5's new album V will be released in September.

The Maroon 5 frontman also talked about possibly being the "douchebag" label he's so often been associated with in Hollywood in the July 2014 issue of GQ magazine.

Levine said to GQ, "Would it be really easy to assume that I was a douchebag? Definitely. One hundred percent. But that doesn't mean that I am. Or maybe I am, I don't know."

He added, "You know what the gist of this article is? Your opening line can be: 'You don't have to like me, but I'd prefer it if you did. That's kind of how I feel. I'm not the easiest person to love right off the bat, you know. If I knew everyone in the world, they would love me. Every single last f--ing one of them."
