Amy Adams gave her first-class plane ride to an American soldier. She was boarding for her Delta flight 1706 from Detroit to Los Angeles when she noticed that there was a man wearing a soldier's uniform standing by the gate. Privately, she asked if she could switch seats with the soldier, who was on the same flight, but on coach.
Adams was in Detroit for the production of a new movie that is bound to hit the big screen soon, "Batman v. Superman."
Jemele Hill, co-host of "Numbers Never Lie" of ESPN2, was on that very same flight and was witness to the whole heartwarming gesture. She told ABC News, "I noticed Ms. Adams was in first class and as I was getting seated, I saw the flight attendant guide the soldier to Ms. Adams' seat. She was no longer in it, but it was pretty clear that she'd given up her seat for him." She then added, "I was incredibly impressed, and I'm not even sure if the soldier knew who gave him that seat. I guess he will now!"
According to Hill, after the soldier was now seated quite comfortably on the first class seat, the 39-year-old actress of "Enchanted" approached the soldier privately by the cockpit. After making the switch, Adams then proceeded to her new seat, which was in coach.
Hill said, "Ms. Adams did it so quietly and quickly that it speaks to her character. And somebody in coach just got a helluva seatmate!" She also posted on her Twitter account, "Just saw actress Amy Adams do something incredibly classy. She gave her 1st class seat to an American soldier. I'm an even bigger fan now."
Apparently, Adams' father served the country by joining the US military. She was born in Italy, which was where her father was stationed during his military service.
