The team of "The View" is slowly falling apart.

Sherri Shepherd told Deadline she was leaving as co-host for the daytime show, after which Jenny McCarthy announced that she would not be returning next season either.

Last night, Shepherd told the website, "It's been seven wonderful years on 'The View' after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am grateful to Barbara Walters and Bill Geddie for giving me the opportunity. I look forward to the business opportunities that lay ahead of me and I am incredibly grateful to my 'View' family and my fans for supporting me on this journey."

Soon after, McCarthy tweeted, "If Sherri goes. . . I go too. #sisters."

The former Playboy model added, "My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks. Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year."

According to sources close to the situation, Shepherd's decision was made due to unsuccessful contract-renewal talks. McCarthy was reportedly set to not return next season because "a decision was made to move the show in a new direction creatively."

Along with the announcement that Shepherd and McCarthy are leaving as hosts, TMZ reported that executive producer Bill Geddie may not return next season either.

Geddie was with "The View" since it began in 1997, according to the Washington Post.

News that the hosts won't be returning next season has surfaced several weeks after former host and co-exec producer of "The View," Barbara Walters, announced her retirement from the show.

There are rumors that for the first time in the history of "The View," a male co-host or two may be joining the show. TMZ has reported that Ross Mathews and former NFL quarterback Jesse Palmer might be possibilities.
